MY INVISALIGN DIARY

I've been bothered by my teeth for years. You might notice that I hardly smile with my mouth open. Every time I'm in front of the camera, I'll always show a "cool" or "fierce" expression or smile with my mouth closed. To be honest, sometimes I don't feel confident with my teeth, because my teeth are crooked, especially my upper teeth. I am very self-conscious with my teeth, and I have always wished that I can have a big smile or laugh in front people without worrying about showing my teeth. Well, I have found my best option to straighten my crooked teeth without metal braces.

What is Invisalign treatment? Invisalign aligners are used to straighten crooked or crowded teeth. Unlike traditional braces or retainers, the Invisalign system is a virtually invisible method of straightening your teeth that uses removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position. So, what are the main benefits over braces?

Customized - Personal Custom-made aligners using 3D simulating software from beginning to the end of Invisalign treatment.
Removable - Can be removed while eating, also enabling us to maintain good oral hygiene.
Comfortable - Unlike braces, they're comfortable to wear as there are no metal wire and brackets that could potentially irritate your mouth or gums.
Virtually invisible - It's hardly noticeable!

I'm getting my Invisalign treatment done at mydentist located at Jalan Ipoh. For my first visit to MyDentist I expected that it would just be a normal verbal consultation with some simple teeth checking. Actually I'm the kind of person that gets very nervous and anxious whenever I visit the dentist, but I was surprised with their services. Friendly and professional! Though I'm still overshadowed by my phobia, it was my best dentist experience ever. I didn't have braces as a teenager so I was worried that my teeth might not be suitable for the procedure. But after a quick check and chat with the orthodontist about my teeth concern, I was told that I am suitable for Invisalign treatment! Yay!

So what's the procedure for Invisalign treatment?

First, the dentist took some X-rays of my teeth, then did some moulds of my teeth and cleaned my teeth in preparation of the aligners. They then sent my mould over to the US for my Invisalign aligners to be manufactured. After a month of waiting I got my own aligners!

Before I proceed to share about my Invisalign diary, here are some pictures of my crooked teeth. You guys can compare it little by little.

When I first got my aligners, it was a little difficult to get used to it because I wasn't used to the foreign object in my mouth. However, it only took me a brief while to get used to it. My teeth weren't as painful as I thought it would be, contrasting to what I've heard from other experiences. The Aligners are convenient to use; they're easy to wear and remove. For me my speech has not really been affected, I may have a lisp for a bit but like I said, it only took me a few days in getting used to it. What surprised me is that no one actually noticed my aligners, until I tell them about it. I have to say that I love it and I'm not shy about my smile and I'm so willing to share about my Invisalign experiences.

I was told that I would be wearing my Invisalign aligners for 48 weeks, but it's based on how much work your teeth needed. I have to wear my aligners at least 22hours a day. Like I've mentioned before, since the aligners are removable, two hours per day is enough for me to take them out to enjoy my delicious meals. This is the main reason on why I choose Invisalign treatment, as it won't affect my appetite. I still can devour my favorite food whenever I want to because it will not cause any discomfort.

Another benefit of Invisalign treatment is that even during its application, it is easy to maintain a good oral hygiene. This is very important for your teeth and gums. I can easily take out my aligners to brush and floss my teeth as usual. Unlike braces, you would have to clean around metal brackets and wires, which can be a nuisance since it is tedious. The aligners are easy to clean too; you can brush your aligners with your toothbrush. Yes, it's that simple.

I started Invisalign treatment to correct my teeth so that I am able to smile comfortably and most importantly Invisalign aligners transform your smile without disrupting your life. I believe that a smile can change everything - your confidence, appearance and life. Currently wearing my first set of aligners and I have so much more to share. So, if you're interested in Invisalign treatment feel free to consult mydentist or visit http://SEA.Invisalign.com or Invisalign Malaysia Facebook Page to find out more.

Can you even notice that I'm wearing aligners right now? I'm ready for my new smile and can't wait for my second set of aligners.

  3. Invisalign is getting more and more popular nowadays, as it is a great subtle option to straightening your teeth, rather than using the traditional wire braces. I think you’re already pretty sans perfectly straight teeth, but you have surely improved your look with the treatment. Stay pretty!
